The Los Angeles Times reports that 1,500 current and former employees of the LAX Hilton have filed suit and are seeking class action status in a lawsuit claiming that the hotel violated various labor laws. Workers claim that they were not always allowed to take breaks or paid for all hours worked, including overtime.
Unite Here, a hospitality industry union, has helped newly unionized employees enter into contracts with at least two other hotels, and helped the Hilton employees expose the alleged violations.
Owned by Fortuna Enterprises, the action seeks to require the Hilton to give employees mandatory breaks and pay back wages and penalties for violating labor laws.
